Nerea Abrego University of Jyväskylä

I am an ecologist broadly interested in community ecology, especially in linking general theory to empirical research. While my research mostly focuses on understanding how ecological communities are structured across temporal, spatial and environmental gradients, an important part of my research is devoted to resolving methodological challenges that come along with data on ecological communities. I am interested in developing empirical methods for efficiently acquiring community data and statistical methods for efficiently analyzing such data.

Ellen Kandeler University of Hohenheim

Ellen Kandeler is Professor of Soil Biology at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany. She is internationally recognized in ecological and biodiversity research of soils. In recent years, she has increasingly focused on the colonisation and function of different soil microhabitats to understand the interaction of soil microorganisms with their local environment.
