Nordic Wild Berry and NTFP Conference

We invite researchers, industry experts, and practitioners to submit abstracts for the Nordic Wild Berry and NTFP Conference, which will take place in Rovaniemi, Finland, 7.10.–8.10.2025.

 

This conference will explore the current landscape and future potential of Nordic wild berries and other non-timber forest products (NTFPs), embracing diverse perspectives while placing a special emphasis on the following key themes:

 

This theme examines traditional and modern foraging practices, the cultural significance of wild berries and NTFPs, and sustainable foraging methods.

NTFPs and Climate Change
Contributions should address how climate change impacts the availability, quality, and seasonality of edible and non-edible NTFPs, alongside strategies for adaptation and mitigation.

 

The theme explores the interaction between forestry practices and the conservation and availability of NTFPs, aiming to create synergies that support sustainable forest ecosystems.

NTFPs and Business Prospects

Presentations will highlight the commercial potential and novel business opportunities of wild berries and other NTFPs, particularly those arising from cross-industry ventures. Topics include challenges and innovations in sustainable sourcing, product and service development, and strategic market expansion, emphasizing how interdisciplinary approaches open new growth avenues.

Cross-Cutting Issues

Governance and the role of data, including big data, are integral to each theme, with a focus on how data-driven insights and policy frameworks can enhance the sustainable management and use of NTFPs.

 

Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and clearly indicate the relevant theme(s). We welcome diverse perspectives, including case studies, empirical research, and theoretical contributions. All submissions will be peer-reviewed.
