Performing Arts in Urban Space, Creative Methods in Social Research
How can performing arts challenge and remake our understandings of urban space? How do creative, art-based research methods enable researchers to pose new kinds of questions, and allow for alternative ways of creating research material?
The symposium Performing Arts in Urban Space, Creative Methods in Social Research brings together scholars from different cross-disciplinary fields to reflect and discuss the potential, possibilities, and challenges of combining creative, art-based methods and research.
The prominent international speakers include Dr. Ian R. Walsh, Lecturer in Drama and Theatre Studies at University of Galway and Dr. Ilaria Bessone, researcher, research coordinator and circus teacher (AltroCirco, Italy).
The symposium is organized by Youth Research, Faculty of Social Sciences and the Under Pressure research project. The seminar has received TURNS (Tampere Urban Research Network for Sustainability) research platform’s seed funding.
